A French knightly sword, circa 1450 Slender double-edged blade of diamond section. Struck with three copper lined pi marks on one side at the forte. Straight, ridged crossguard, the terminals bent towards the blade. Leather-covered grip with three cord-backed risers. Disc pommel with slight conical taper toward the stepped square tang button. Length 88 cm. Cf. similar swords from the group of archaeological finds from the battle of Castillon. Condition: II - III
