A fur hat for a grenadier of the Imperial Guard dating: 1808 - 1814 provenance: France, Solid, leather body covered with fur. Typical plate for grenadiers of the Imperial Guard, bearing the crowned eagle clutching a baton and thunderbolts flanked by two grenades. White ropes. On the back, the classic 'Cul de singe' bearing a flaming grenade embroidered with a white thread on a red background (small missing parts) for a grenadier of the Guard. White pompom falling from the top. Restored red plume and cockade. Leather interior with remains of raw canvas band. Extremely rare. height hat only circa 33 cm.
