A general's helmet, King Victor Emmanuel II epoch(1849 - 1878) dating: circa 1850 provenance: Sardinian Kingdom, Metal skull covered with black fur; marked silver mounts (in beautiful dark patina) with an eagle in the round (the crown slightly flattened), pierced and gilded crest as well as the star featuring the crowned monogram 'VE' and placed on a silver star with rays, scaled chin-straps with beautiful cockade. Brown morocco leather interior and green silk cap, both with manufacturer's stamps in gold (signs of use). Complete with the very rare aigrette and heron feathers (darkened by dust, needs cleaning). Very rare. provenance: Brescian private collection. According to information from the owner, the helmet belonged to Vittorio Colli di Felizzano, (1787- 1856) a well-known Italian soldier and politician. height total circa 52 cm.
