A large Nuremberg single-handled mortar with acanthus reliefs
Of almost cylindrical form with a broadly flaring moulded rim. Resting on four finely modelled paw feet from which issue one shorter and three longer column ribs with acanthus capitals. With a large, angular, octagonally faceted handle.
H 25.9, D 25.9 cm, weight c. 16.3 kg.
Slight verdigris, minor firing irregularities and dents.
15th C.
Thickly cast bronze with dark golden brown patina.
