A magnificent German lidded vermeil ivory tankard with battle scene, Augsburg, circa 1700 A magnificent German lidded vermeil ivory tankard with battle scene, Augsburg, circa 1700 Gilt silver. Oval, domed, gadrooned base. The almost cylindrical ivory body in high relief, featuring a detailed, antique-style battle scene. The domed, hinged lid also gadrooned. The fully sculptured knob in the shape of St. Florian. The curved handle with a forked thumb rest. The base and lid stamped with the hallmark and master's mark "IM" for Johann Mittnacht I, master craftsman in Augsburg circa 1671, who died in 1727. The ivory casing with minor defects and cracks.
