The upper part, architecturally shaped, shows lowered mirrors decorating the upper part of the dish with a screw surmounted by a mixtilinear element between turned vases, while below is a wide band with a central drawer and sides marked by reserves framed at the corners by lion heads carved in relief, supported by a projecting top supported by four legs in the shape of vases with lids, joined by nuts and a central crossbeam with a broken line, on on onion feet. Roberto Valeriani, author of an interesting file on the subject, recalls that the typology of this instrument repeats, in a precise manner, that of other known examples made in Northern Europe, and recalls for example both presses illustrated by H. Schmitz, later than ours but equally conceived with high supports and a decorated castle, and suggests even more apt comparisons with similar artefacts made in the Netherlands, such as the two reproduced by C.H. De Jonge, entirely similar to ours, especially in the shape of the supports, dated to the mid-seventeenth century; 195x80x66.5 cm. Comparative literature C.H.
