A PAIR OF HUNTERS UNDER A TREE
Zurich, model from ca. 1768–70.
Allegory of autumn from a series depicting the seasons. Both figures are dressed in green hunting costumes and are sitting on a rock in front of a tree stump, eating ham. At their feet lies a dog, and a dead hare and two wild ducks hang from the branches of the tree stump. Two shotguns and a hunting bag are placed behind the tree stump. Underglaze blue mark Z.

Minimally restored.

According to Rudolf Schnyder's latest research in 2009, this group is one of the works created by a master modeler from J.W. Spengler's circle (Schnyder, Kern Collection, KFS 122/2009, p. 13).
