A PAIR OF LARGE BOW BROOCHES - former Kofler-Truniger collection Probably Spain, Visigothic, early 6th century AD. Brass/copper alloy. Seven profiled knobs on a semi-circular cell with stepped- and ray decoration, profiled bow with central ridge and shield-shaped base with cross decoration. L 18.2 cm. Heavily corroded. Remnants of glass inserts. Provenance: - Collection of Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1903–1990 & 1918–1999), Lucerne before 1955 (inv. no. K723K). - Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974. - By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne. Exhibited: Kunsthaus Zurich, Collection E. and M.
