A Pair of large Japanese Satsuma vases, decorated with Imperial scenes and Samurai, Nishida Kyoto,Meiji, late 19th century. Japanese ceramic, Satsuma. Decorated with Imperial scenes and samurai warriors, finished with sculptured dragons. Marked for Nishida, Kyoto. Mounted on openwork carved hardwood stands. Japan, Meiji, late 19th century. Height including the stand: 166 cm. (45 x 110 x 40 cm) Condition report: In our opinion, in good condition. One vase shows minor restorations to the dragons and has a large crack (on the side decorated with samurai) that extends to the bottom. Furthermore, no chips or cracks are noticeable. The second vase shows no cracks, chips, or restorations. UV checked. The wooden stands are in good and stable condition.
