A profusely bone-inlaid South German wheellock puffer with etched barrel, circa 1590 Octagonal, after girdle round and smooth barrel in 14 mm calibre with conically reinforced muzzle. On the top of the barrel an ornamental etching on blackened ground. Chiselled wheellock with florally engraved hammer, closed wheel cover and spring-loaded safety lever. The pan cover with engraved mascaron at top and release button. The walnut stock inlaid all-over with engraved and blackened hop blossoms, birds and portrait busts. On the bottom of the ball pommel a bone inlay with engraved and blackened mascaron. The side plate with bolted belt hook. Wooden ramrod with engraved bone tip. Fine condition. Length 54 cm.
