Two-dimensional composition characterised by expressive, luminous colour contrasts with a broad, dark contour line, which takes up one of the main themes in Penck's oeuvre: the motif of the (female) nude, which the artist takes up in a highly stylised and reduced form. Penck - actually Ralf Winkler - was categorised as one of the "Neue Wilde" in the 1980s and is considered one of the most influential artists of contemporary art, especially Neo-Expressionism.
