A. R. Penck (1939 Dresden - 2017 Zurich) Three women with a demon Colour aquatint/handmade paper, 1989. sign. and numb. 6/35. Two-dimensional composition characterised by expressive, luminous colour contrasts with a broad, dark contour line, which takes up one of the main themes in Penck's oeuvre: the motif of the (female) nude, which the artist takes up in a highly stylised and reduced form. Penck - actually Ralf Winkler - was categorised as one of the "Neue Wilde" in the 1980s and is considered one of the most influential artists of contemporary art, especially Neo-Expressionism. Plate approx. 99 cm x 64 cm. Paper 123 cm x 98.5 cm. Frame. Aquatint in colours on laid paper, 1989. Hand-signed and numbered 6/35.
