A rare and interesting sabre (Hwando) dating: 19th Century provenance: Korea, Strong, slightly curved, single-and false-edged blade, bearing a long, central fuller and a shorter one on the back. Base lined with brass and copper ... Flat, iron quillon, of octagonal shape, finely inlaid with silver spirals on both sides (small parts of inlays missing and pitting). Iron ring-nut, with remains of silver-inlaid undulated lines. Grip with antique covering in fish skin, remains of silk lacing. Iron cap with remains of silver inlays. Wooden scabbard covered with ray skin painted in black (some damage). Iron mounts, two bands joined by a back band provided with two loops. length 85 cm.
