Lot no. 202
A Rare Indian Tipu Sultan’s Armoury Tulwar Sword, Mysore, 1751–1799.
This child tulwar sword features an elaborately gilded hilt in the form of a snarling tiger’s head, a motif famously associated with Tipu Sultan (1751–1799), the Tiger of Mysore. The sculptural grip is adorned with intricate detailing, including a ribbed handle that mimics a tiger’s tail, flanked by two fierce feline heads at the cross guard. The recurved knuckle guard extends elegantly, terminating in another stylized tiger’s head.
