A rare snaphaunce lock gun by Marco Antonio Corsini dating: last quarter of the 18th Century provenance: Massa Marittima, Smoothbore, two-stage, 13.5 mm cal. barrel, octagonal at the first part decorated with a frame and three lilies, marked 'PM' in silver among stars, then round after smooth and beaded rings.The barrel is decorated with three silver mounts decorated with floral motifs, the first with sight and decorated with a mask, at the girdle a silver ring surmounted by a silver lily; engraved tang. Beautiful lock richly sculpted with busts, snakes, masks and floral motifs in relief, movable pan cover, signed 'Marco Antonio Corsini' inside. Briarwood full stock (restorations under the lock and under the first part of the barrel), sculpted with busts, snakes and floral motifs over the entire length and with a large dragon on the butt, beautiful steel mounts richly carved, engraved and partially pierced, the counterplate with two angels holding a medallion with a bust, the trigger guard with a bust and a grotesque face, the tang with snakes and floral motifs, the butt plate with a male bust and with snakes and floral motifs below, a medallion with a bust held by two grotesque figures on the back.
