A Russian Vase by Rudolph Vilde, porcelain, spherical vase, opening with gilt edging and gold arched border, decorated with pale green sprigs of leaves in relief with 3 bellflowers each and ornaments, height 15 cm Saint Petersburg, underglaze green mark Czar Nicholas II., 1894–1917, dated 1910, 2 loop marks (Ru) Rudolf Teodorovich Wilde or Rudolph Fedorovich Wilde von Wildemann, born in the Courland province 29.10. or 10.11.1868, died in Leningrad in 30.4.1938, decorative and applied arts, painter, graphic artist, studied in the drawing workshop of the Prokhorov Manufactory in Moscow. In 1894-1899 he studied at the Central School of Technical Drawing of Baron A. L. Stieglitz in St. Petersburg and became a “scientific draughtsman”. In 1905, he worked as a draughtsman and designer at the Imperial Porcelain Factory, from 1906-1935 he was in charge of the painting and grinding workshop of the porcelain and glass factory. In 1912 he was a member of the jury of the “Carl Faberge” competition.
