A SCULPTOR'S HAMMER, MILAN, CIRCA 1560 SCULPTOR'S HAMMER, MILAN, CIRCA 1560 made of iron with a dissymmetrical head, inscribed on the handle and not finely engraved with a family coat of arms to turn it into a seal, originally intended for sculpting practice. According to Mario Scalini, author of an in-depth critical report to which we refer for further details, the object was made around the middle of the 16th century in Italy, perhaps in Milan, as a gift or for use by the famous sculptor Alonso Berruguete (Paredes de Nava 1488 - Toledo 1561), as indicated by the inscription engraved on the handle ALONSO / BERRVGVETE ; cm 23x7x4.5
