A SET OF SIX PAINTED FAUTEUILS - The Embden Collection
Louis XVI, Paris, ca. 1780. Three of them stamped L.M. Pluvinet (Louis Magdeleine Pluvinet, master craftsman 1775).
Beech wood, fluted and carved with braided frieze, rosettes, acanthus leaves, decorative friezes, and polychrome painted. Trapezoidal, curved, and upholstered seat on a straight frame and fluted, conical legs. Arched, upholstered backrest with curved and upholstered armrests. Tapestry upholstery with rural animals and human figures in reserves framed by drapery and flowers. Two armchairs with different paintwork.
60.5 × 62 × 96.5 cm.
Various losses, paintwork in part retouched. Covers with a few tears and some staining. Silk coverings on the back need to be replaced.
