A SMALL SIENESE CASKET, 16TH CENTURY SMALL CHEST, SIENA, 16TH CENTURY carved and gilded wood with pastille reliefs, front richly decorated with winged figures amidst plant festoons and candelabras, sides centred by a large mask, corners marked by large harpies with outstretched wings. The inside of the lid is painted with a rectangular frame decorated with reserves in the centres and corners, within which a polychrome scene stands out with allegorical figures in a wooded landscape, painted in a style reminiscent of the Sienese style of Bartolomeo Neroni known as Il Riccio; 63x98x57 cm
