A stone sculpture of Krishna child called Balakrishna while crushing butter with a mortar India, probably Rajasthan or Gujarat, 10th-13th century (h. cm 34) (defects) In Hindu mythology, Krishna as a child is known for his love of butter, often stolen and eaten secretly. In some representations it is shown helping to prepare butter or milk, as in the scene proposed here. Provenance: Private collection, Milan
