A Strasbourg silver dessert cutlery set in a leather case
Comprising a serving spoon, six dinner spoons and forks, six steel bladed fruit knives and six cheese knives with vermeil blades. The knives with mother-of-pearl handles. The spoons and forks engraved with conjoined “JC” monograms. In the original leather bound wooden case with four saffian leather covered trays. Some of the vermeil knives replaced, four with maker's mark of Jean-Henri I Oertel, the serving spoon unmarked.
L of spoons 17.7 cm. Weight of each spoon c. 65; of each fork c. 55 g. H of box 13; W 25.5; D 18.5 cm, total weight 5,116 g.
Marks of Jacques-Henri Alberti, 1772.
