A very interesting broadsword with engraved blade dating: about 1680 provenance: Austria or Russia, Wide, double-edged blade of lenticular section, the first side engraved with a double eagle, trophies with cannon and crossed swords, with two figures above a cartouche bearing the inscription 'GLORIA BETRI', the other side decorated en suite but the decorations is less visible due to areas of rust. Iron hilt with horizontal, 'S'-shaped quillons, ribbed and slightly increasing towards the ends. Pointed center of crossguard carved in bas-relief with helmet and trophies. Ovoid pommel carved with busts among floral motifs. Wooden grip with coils, wire binding and moor's heads. Given the presence of the crowned double-headed eagle, the invocation GLORIA BETRI could stand for "Gloria Petri", or Glory to Peter (Peter I the Great 1672-1725). length 142 cm.
