A very rare officer's helmet of the 'Piemonte Reale' regiment, epoch Carlo Alberto
dating: 1830-40
provenance: Sardinian Kingdom, Silver skull with imposing crest featuring silver-plated and browned parts and other mercury-gilded parts, the finial shaped as a lion's head gilded and finely chiselled, black horsehair tang with leather base, the front of the crest with embossed trophies above the crowned and pierced monogram of King Charles Tree. Hardened leather turban, emblem of an eagle at the front with spread wings in mercury gilt copper, the crown is detached. Unscrewed bronze rosettes and copper chin-strap with mercury-gilded scales held together by gilded-thread tassels.
With brown leather sweat band and remains of a pierced leather cap inside. height 34 cm.
