Lot no. 46
A very rare "Rose-Verte" porcelain vase China, Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912), Yongzheng (1722 - 1735) Finely decorated in overglaze famille rose enamel, this extremely rare vase is an exquisite example of Chinese ceramic art from the reign of Emperor Yongzheng (1723-1735) of the Qing Dynasty. The vase is adorned with a captivating scene of figures amidst a mountainous landscape. The scene unfolds across the body of the vase, depicting fishermen engaged in their daily activities. Some figures are portrayed riding water buffalo, while others are depicted observing them from a stilted dwelling, or house on piles. The landscape is rendered with meticulous detail, showcasing rocky outcrops, lush vegetation, and flowing water. The depiction of fishermen suggests a theme of harmony between humans and nature, a common motif in Chinese art and literature. The water buffalo, a symbol of strength and diligence, further reinforces this theme. Provenance: French private collection Height: 54.5 cm
