A very scarce lion head yatagan Dating: circa 1800 Provenance: Indopersia Slightly curved, single-edged blade with hollow faces, on the forte are fine, gilt engravings on dark ground featuring inscriptions in Arabic and floral motifs, a deep Arabic stamp on top. Beautiful grip entirely covered with gilt silver, engraved with floral motifs; the pommel shaped as a lion head enriched with small ruby and emerald cabochons. Wooden scabbard with green leather covering, grooved, with gilt silver mounts, pierced with floral motifs and decorated with cabochons en suite with the grip. A mobile suspension ring. Dimensions: length 73.5 cm.
