A very scarce repeating flintlock gun by Giacomo Berselli dating: circa 1700 provenance: Bologna Smoothbore, roundbarrel, 13 mm cal. barrel, with rings and frames and slightly carved at the base, rib on the entire length, moulded muzzle and foresight. Large tang with sight and remains of engraved floral motifs. Rounded plate lock with brass pin provided with a lever on the left side which, with a single rotation (about 250 degrees), cocks the hammer, triggers the bascinet, lowers the batterie and introduces the ball and the powder into the powder chamber. Wooden butt and briarwood fore-end (small defects and missing parts), steel mounts, the counterplate shaped as an 'S', ring-guard carved at the edges and with remains of engraved decorations, the butt-plate can be opened (the opening mechanism needs revision), with powder and ball magazines marked 'P' and 'B', the powder one has a closing screw. The system is often called the Lorenzoni system but it is more likely that the Berselli dynasty invented this revolutionary system.
