US medical accessories from the 101st Airborne Hospital comprising five unopened Large Dressing plasters and two Carlisle model plasters also sealed. A glass infusion bottle is present with its highly oxidised metal holder. Two pens are marked US Government. One white ceramic bottle is marked ODOL. A second empty glass infusion bottle is marked Baxter Laboratories. An OD canvas pouch contains toilet paper. A metal basin is also included with no visible markings. The set includes a number of Buy War Bond matchbooks and a pack of drawing pins reference 1W9 tack. Some medical instruments are present as well as an empty pouch for officer's surgical instruments. Seventeen metal tumblers complete this set, several of which are marked US Tacco 43 and US Tacco 44 while others are unmarked. Some wear and patina to be noted. During the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, the 101st Airborne Division established a field hospital near Herbaimont, west of Bastogne, to care for wounded soldiers. This facility, set up by the 326th Airborne Medical Company, was strategically located away from the front lines. However, on the night of 19 December, German forces stormed the hospital, capturing the medical staff and patients. This loss seriously affected the division's medical capabilities during the siege of Bastogne. According to the seller's information, the matches are from Moinet, the cups from Bastogne School, the Baxter bottle from Chaumont Grandru. condition II+.
