Lot no. 140
[PAULET-NEWCOMBE AGREEMENT]. Agreement between His Majesty's Government and the French Government respecting the boundary line between Syria and Palestine from the Mediterranean to El Hammé. Presented to the Parliament by command of His Majesty. London, His Majesty's Stationery Office, 1923. In-8, navy blue bradel percaline, smooth muted spine (Modern binding). A very rare document, printed in a small number, comprising the text of the treaty in English and French accompanied by three large fold-out maps. The Paulet-Newcombe Agreement, concluded in March 1923 between the French and British governments, concerned the borders between the French Mandate in Syria and Lebanon and the British Mandate in Palestine. The current Israeli-Lebanese and Israeli-Syrian borders are defined by these agreements, with the exception of areas disputed as a result of subsequent conflicts between Israel, Lebanon and Syria. Stamp of The Law Society, London, dated 1 August 1923 on the first page.
