The painting offered here is based on a composition by Adriaen Brouwer, which is in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (inv. no. 56.1185). Another version was formerly in the Schidlowvsky Collection in St Petersburg, which Gerard Knuttel assumes may have been the first version.
