Our portrait adds to our knowledge of the career of Leprieur
of Leprieur, Hyacinthe Rigaud's friend and right-hand man for 14 years.
In addition to its obvious quality, this elegant effigy has the advantage of
almost to the letter, a posture invented by Hyacinthe Rigaud
in 1696 for his portrait of the Marquise de Sourches (private collection
Château de Parentignat, Puy de Dôme). Our model is
depicted half-body, without hands, wearing a short wig with jugs
"ending in a long curl on one shoulder.
Her dress of silver brocade with a wide throat and rolled-up sleeves

with blue silk highlights.
Marie Ligier de la Prade was born into a family of doctors in Clermont-Ferrand.
