The work of this seventh-century Byzantine physician is of interest to medical historians, particularly Book VI, which describes in detail the surgical procedures practised at the time. Paulus Ægineta is considered to be the last representative of Greek medicine, before medical knowledge became an Arab science. The collation is identical to Schreiber, Colines 89, but differs from the Renouard copy, Colines, p. 188, where the last page (n. ch. 158) is blank. Colines' "Tempus I" mark to title, woodcuts with sifted background in text. Pale foxing, margins of last leaf damaged without affecting text, minor binding damage, title-piece missing.
