This famous affair aroused the curiosity of many writers, historians and novelists from 1731 to the present day. Catherine Cadière, then aged 19, was seduced by the Jesuit Girard, aged 48. Manipulated by her brothers, insane and hysterical, she was accused of witchcraft in 1731. Her partly staged convulsions attracted the attention of the courts. Lyon, De Ville, 1693. In-12, contemporary calf. A wine merchant and his wife had their throats slit in Lyon in July 1692 and their money stolen. Their bodies were found in the cellar thanks to the rod of a dowser, the accomplices were found thanks to the same rod. Rare and curious. Set of 9 volumes.
