Afghan Farahan rug with Pazyryk pattern Afghanistan. Wool on cotton. The red central field is patterned with an all-over diamond pattern in a repeat. Continuous wide, multipart border with depictions of various wild animals and horses, bordered by narrow bands modelled on the oldest surviving carpet in the world from the 4th/5th century BC; 244 cm x 173 cm. An Afghan Farahan carpet.
