The painting, with its intense dramatic charge and refined luministic rendering, fits into the lively context of Neapolitan Baroque painting, showing affinities with the work of Bernardo Cavallino and Antonio De Bellis. The expressive rendering of the faces, the attention to scenic construction and the calibrated chromatic composition confirm the link with that generation of Neapolitan painters who knew how to combine pathos and measure.
