He emigrated to France in 1968, where he began life as a specialised worker. While working on technical drawings for Roland Morand, a French architect and painter, Morand noticed the quality of Hajeri's personal sketches. In 1977, Hajeri held his first exhibition at the Messine gallery in Paris (8th arrondissement). He exhibited for the first time in Tunisia in 1985 at the Médina Gallery in Tunis and, a year later, at the Phyllis Kind Gallery in New York. He then took part in numerous solo and group exhibitions, notably at the Olympiad of the Arts in Seoul in 1988, at the Arab World Institute in Paris in April 1995, and at the Fanny Guillon-Laffaille Gallery in Paris.
