AIBOM (village), Wosera-Gaui, East Sepik, Papua New Guinea. Rare anthropo-zoomorphic pottery made by the women of Aibom. It was placed on the ridge at the top of ceremonial houses until the wooden sculptures were completed and sufficient wealth could be gathered by the clans involved in the construction of the men's house. Height: 34 cm. Note: See a similar example in the collections of the Musée Branly-Jacques Chirac (M.N.A.O. 66-3-20).
