EWER WITH THEOLOGICAL in pewter with rich moulded and chased decoration of masks, grotesque foliage, winged horses and winged satyrs, the central part featuring three cartouches illustrating the allegories of Faith, Hope and Charity. France, early 17th century, circa 1600. Height: 28 cm (Numerous accidents and chips, restorations and wear, foot attached) Although different, our ewer is strongly inspired by the is strongly inspired by the ewer known as the "Temperance" ewer preserved in the Louvre Museum [OA 691] and which is attributed to François Briot (1550 - 1616).
