Albert Ernest CARRIER-BELLEUSE (Anizy-le-Château, 1824 - Sèvres, 1887) for the Choisy-le-Roi factory. The three graces. Polychrome earthenware sculpture signed A.Carrier Belleuse on the terrace and stamped HB & Cie Choisy-le-Roy on the reverse. Height: 63 cm. Independent earthenware base with oval floret decoration; Stamped mark on reverse: "HB & Cie Choisy-le-Roy". H: 16 - W: 35 - D: 32 cm The upper planter is missing. The flowers on the base are chipped and slightly missing. A pupil of David d'Angers, Albert-Ernest Carrier Belleuse befriended Carpeaux during his training at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and made his debut at the Salon of 1851. From 1867, he was a teacher of Chéret and Auguste Rodin, and became director of the Manufacture de Sèvres from 1876 to 1887. Bibliography: SPINOSA MARTIN, Carmen.
