Representative of exile art, belongs to the so-called lost or forgotten generation. Came from a Jewish family and initially worked as an actor. As a painter self-taught, exhibited from the 1920s in the Vienna Secession, the Hagenbund and the Würthle Gallery. From 1932 member of the Hagenbund. Jacques O'Hana, a brother of the French composer Maurice Ohana, specialised in French Impressionists. The gallery's headquarters were in London, where his first solo exhibition took place from April to May 1953. The relationship between art dealer and artist was initially strained; O'Hana tried in vain to persuade Reuss to focus on friendlier and more easily marketable subjects. The relationship developed into a friendship, and O'Hana became one of Reuss's most important sponsors and supporters. In 1966, the gallery owner made his first visit to Mousehole.
