In-folio, spotted tawny calf, spine ribbed, red title page, red edges (Binding of the period). 4 ff. n.p. (title page, illustrated title printed in red and black, and 2 ff. dedication), 28 pp. 278 pp. and 88 full-page anatomical plates. First edition and first print run of the title vignette engraved by J. Wandelaar and the 88 full-page anatomical plates, numbered 1-47, often with a line version with captions opposite. "Albinus was one of the greatest anatomical illustrators of the 18th century; his illustrations of the bones and muscles were noted for their beauty and accuracy and his work established a new standard in anatomical illustration", says Garrison & Morton 399, who do not know this work. - Sallander, I, p. 27. Ex-libris Dr François Moustier. One hinge split to the first nerve, minor damage to head and spine ends, one corner restored, a few text leaves slightly foxed.
