Second edition of this extraordinary baroque atlas.
Beautiful vignette on the title page and 40 plates numbered I to XXV, the same plate often appearing in several states, staged in different ways or reproduced in line with indications. "Albinus's Tabulae sceleti et musculorum, based on his concept of the ideal man (homo perfectus), is among the most artistically perfect of anatomic atlases. Albinus and his artist Jan Wandelaar used some ingenious methods to prepare the illustrations...", says Norman 29 (Leide ed. 1747).
Binding faded and worn, dampstaining, some with traces of mould at the beginning of the volume, repaired splits, unrepaired splits in the margins.
