VERY RARE FIRST EDITION. It is illustrated with a vignette on the title and 2 folding plates, all engraved in bistre. "The author describes his experiments carried out in 1793 and 1794. He continued the experiments on animal electricity that his uncle Galvani had demonstrated (see Galvani). This text played an important role in the controversy between Galvani and Volta, which led to the latter's discovery of the voltaic battery.
