Chatrian, music by Henri MARECHAL, first performed at the Opéra-Comique on 31 December 1881 31 January 1878: he is appointed mayor of his commune [Le Raincy] and is overwhelmed: "Look at this: Chatrian with a tricolour tie around his belly and marrying people; it's the punishment of l'Ami Fritz", but he got back to work and sent manuscripts and corrections as he went along: he attached several scenes from Act III, the "definitive refrain of the Chanson du Dieu Soleil", the Chanson de Johannès and the Chanson de Mikel, etc. The collaboration was sometimes difficult: "For the first time in my life, I've been able to work on the chorus of the Chanson de Johannès and the Chanson de Mikel. - Collaboration was sometimes difficult: "For God's sake, don't ask me for any more changes"; and about the first version of Act 3: "Triturez tout ce que vous voudrez, ça m'est égal"... - In January 1879, he sent another 2 pages for the end of Act 3: "Voilà!
