"Monsieur Ponsard candidat à l'académie". Autograph manuscript signed "Alex. Dumas". S.l.n.d. [circa 1854]. 4 pp. and ½ large in-folio (280 x 440 mm) on blue paper, paginated.
Column published in his newspaper Le Mousquetaire in November 1854 on the candidacy for the Académie française of the playwright and poet François Ponsard to replace Jacques François Ancelot.
"Mr Ponsard is lining up to replace Mr Ancelot and, in our opinion, the Académie would make an honourable and fair choice by appointing Mr Ponsard [...]".
Ponsard was not elected, but was on his second attempt to replace Louis-Pierre Baour-Lormian on 22 March 1855.
