Note
The Hungarian-born French sculptor Alexandre Kéléty was an illustrious representative of Art Deco production. His creations were warmly received at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925 and at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1937.
This model captures the tension of the archer in his dynamic movement, the falling draperies harmoniously echoing the undulating form of the bow. It is intrinsically linked to the sculptor's other moving group, The Coachman (Arwas, op. cit., pp. 116-117).
