He studied at the Technical School of Sculpture in Hallein and at Linz University of the Arts. Haberpointner works mainly with wood, which he transforms using various techniques such as cutting, burning, sawing, bleaching and repigmenting. His works have been widely exhibited in renowned institutions such as the Museum Beelden aan Zee (The Hague), the Galerie Academia (Salzburg), the Würth Museum (Germany), the John F. Kennedy Center (Washington, DC) and the Provincial Museum of Upper Austria (Linz). Haberpointner's works can be found in a number of prestigious collections, including those of the Museum Beelden aan Zee, the Würth Museum, the Liaunig Museum, the MUSA, the Lentos Linz, the Museum der Moderne in Salzburg and the Upper Austrian Gallery.
