By Camille Alaphilippe (Tours, 1874 - Algeria, after 1934). Pupil of Laurens and Barrias at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1898, he was awarded the First Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture. After the Great War, demobilised, ill and ruined, he went to Algeria where he became head of the sculpture section at the École des Beaux-Arts in Algiers.
