Front: Cipher (HO) of the Duc d'Aumale crowned, below signature BARRE. Rv. In five lines: CONSEIL DES DOMAINES DE M. LE DUC D'AUMALE. Lec ; Gold - 8.84 g - 24.5 mm - 12 h PCGS MS63 (51871677). With gold bee hallmark. Minimal marks of handling on the surfaces. Superb at Fleur de coin. Henri d'Orléans (1822-1897), known as the Duc d'Aumale, was one of King Louis-Philippe's sons. A politician, he was Governor General of Algeria in 1847-1848, following in the footsteps of Marshal Bugeaud. Immensely wealthy after the compensation payments of the French Revolution, he was the most important bibliophile and art collector of his time. Without posterity, he bequeathed his Chantilly estate and his precious collections to the Institut.
