Artwork accompanied by certificate issued by 'Archivio Alighiero Boetti', Rome and registered under the number 9482 dated 19/06/2019. 37.01 x 37.01 in. Boetti in this work ‘plays’ with the possibility of declining the 1978 date / number and writes, as in all his ‘tapestries’, from left to right from top to bottom, many combinations of numbers until composing the year MILLENOVECENTOSETTANTOTTO (one thousand nine hundred seventy-eight). That fateful year, which will change much of his tapestries production, is the year of the beginning of the war in Afghanistan. In that same year his hotel in Kabul, bought years before, is confiscated, and he is prohibited from entering or staying in the country. After this date his ‘embroidery’ production will move to Pakistan, to Peshawar, where it will be continued by Afghan refugee women. - TAGS: Arte del 900
