Allach figurine "Fencer" bisque porcelain. White. An athletic young man standing on a rectangular plinth with a foil, wearing only knee breeches. Designed by Ottmar Obermaier, c. 1938, marked; model no. 83; minimal residue; manufacturer's mark. H. 31.5 cm. The sculptor Otto Obermaier (1883-1965), who worked in Munich, took part in exhibitions at the Glaspalast and the Haus der Kunst in Munich from 1905. Between 1923 and 1936, some of his figures were produced by the Rosenthal art department. After 1936, Obermaier also created designs for Allach. His main subject was animal figures, which were also produced in bronze. Cf. cat. Porzellan-Manufaktur Allach GmbH, Verzeichnis der Erzeugnisse, no. 83; see Niecol, vol. 3, p. 33.
