Blued and rifled octagonal barrel hunting pinwheel harquebus, leaf frog, flat-bodied iron lock with inner pinwheel and outer hammer finely engraved with a wild boar hunting scene, the iron hammer cut out with lion's head under crown and goddess Euterpe holding a violin, Smooth iron fittings, trigger guard with finger rests, blond fruitwood mounts, drawer stock with various shades of horn cover, blond horn ramrod channel entrance and butt end, horn butt plate, on the back plate side a deer antler plate engraved "H.M 1597". L: 111 cm, barrel: 81 cm. Late 17th century. BE Initials possibly designating HANS MENZER active in Bavaria and Thuringia in the early 17th century.
